Did you know that West Woodland is one of eight SPS elementary schools that are part of Central and North Seattle Schools PTA Alliance (CANSSPA)? The mission of CANSSPA is to advocate for all children to receive adequate and equitable education through a model of network building, resource sharing, and collective advocacy.
CANSSPA believes:
- Seattle Public Schools is responsible for funding schools equitably
- Inequity in PTA fundraising tilts the field
- Seattle PTA fundraising is deeply intertwined with historical injustice
- Individual school-based fundraising undermines collective advocacy
CANSSPA acknowledges the duality of this critical work – we want our children to have access to the resources and programs our PTA supports, but we also want children in every corner of this city to have the same privileges. If you’re interested in learning more, reach out: contact@cansspa.org.
