    Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Coordinator, West Woodland Elementary PTA

    The Artist-in-Residence Coordinator, under the direction of the school principal, manages the Artist-in-Residence program at West Woodland Elementary. This PTA position receives a stipend, and requires a 2-year commitment. Training (unpaid) will be required by shadowing the current AiR Coordinator this Spring. In turn, this person will be responsible for training his/her replacement, in advance of leaving the role.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Serves on the Artist-in-Residence (AiR) teachers’ hiring committee. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and evaluating of Artist-in-Residence teaching candidates.
    • Maintains substitute list.
    • Conducts annual background screening on AiR teachers via the Washington State Patrol. Ensures that each AiR teacher completes Volunteer Application required by Seattle Public Schools.
    • Coordinates agreement forms and contracts with AiR teachers.
    • Serves as primary contact for all AiR teachers.
    • Works with principal and PTA president(s) to coordinate class schedules. Communicates scheduling changes (i.e., absences) with classroom teachers when necessary.
    • Conducts mid-year evaluations with PTA president(s) for each AiR teacher.
    • Purchases supplies and equipment to be used in AiR classes. Tracks expenses and maintains budget. Submits a report to the PTA Treasurer(s) on a regular basis. Submit check requests for Artist-in-Residence compensation once per month.
    • Assists with classroom prep if necessary (and available).
    • Helps prepare and organize AiR classrooms, supplies and equipment with appropriate members of school staff, volunteers and others when necessary.
    • Recruits volunteers via volunteer coordinator(s), school website or Wildcat Chat. Coordinates AiR volunteers.
    • Submit photos and a brief description of weekly AiR activities to school web producer for posting on Wildcat Chat and school website.
    • Attend monthly PTA Board meetings.

    Duration and Compensation:

    The duration of this contract shall be from September 2018 through June 2020, terminating at the end of the school year.
