    Our West Woodland PTA is proud to offer a variety of fun and exciting Enrichment Programs for our students. Classes are optional and are held before or after school on a seasonal basis (Fall, Winter, Spring) with the exception of a few year-long programs (Chess, Choir, CDL). There are no classes held during school holidays, early dismissal days, or weather closures. Classes are available to West Woodland students only.  

    Before registering, please read our Enrichment Policies. You will be asked to agree to these policies when registering.

    Want a free class for your student?
    Free classes are available to Enrichment Assistant Volunteers. Volunteer once a week after school for 10 - 25 minutes (8 - 10 week commitment). Contact Elise Knox at wwdenrichment@gmail.com if interested.

    Enrichment Scholarships Are Available
    Students may qualify for one enrichment  scholarship per quarter.  Register through the website for the class as your normally would and select the scholarship option. Our Scholarship Coordinator will be in touch with you.   Read the Scholarship Policy

    Hacker Power HourHacker Power Hour
    with Linus Needer of Universe Labs

    Break it, fix it, build it, just make something awesome. In the Hacker Power Hour students will build projects they can take home as well as figure out ways to repurpose and upcycle old items. Students will not only learn some basic electronics and computing, but they will take home creative problem solving skills. Materials included; students must provide their own sense of curiosity.

    Adventure SurvivalAdventure Survival
    with Linus Needer of Universe Labs

    Adventure Survival is a table top role playing game created for elementary school students. What will your character be? A talking hamster? A unicorn that shoots rainbows? A care bear? A robot shark? Come create a character, roll the dice and see what fate has in store. With no weapons in the game, players focus on puzzle solving, team work, social awareness and math skills. Students will take home their own set of dice, rule booklet and some truly amazing tales of adventure and survival in a fantastical world

    Are you a Pokemon fan? Or would you like to be ready for Japanese classes in middle school?
    WW Japanese 101 is designed for beginners who are interested in Japanese. In this quarter, we will learn how to write and pronounce basic 50 characters and express common phrases like daily greetings. This course would be a good prerequisite if you are planning to take any Japanese classes in the future. We also cover Japanese culture/subculture information through fun activities! Japanese snacks will be provided.

    West Woodland Japanese 102 is designed for returning students who have mastered first 50 characters called "Hiragana" in Japanese 101. In this quarter, we will learn how to write and pronounce another 50 character set called "Katakana". Once you have mastered those characters, you can technically pronounce all Japanese words. This course would be good prerequisite for any advanced Japanese classes in the future. We will also cover Japanese culture/subculture information through fun activities.     creative coding for kidsCreative Coding–Core
    with Creative Coding 4 Kids

    Make the games you want to play! Our standard class for grades 3-5 is open to all experience levels. Students will bring their own ideas for the games and animations they wish to create, and our teachers will guide them towards their goals. A variety of challenges will supplement each coder’s own projects, which they’ll get to show in a presentation at the end of the class! Beginners will spend the first few lessons learning the basics of coding and how to use Scratch before diving into their own projects. Our classic Creative Coding experience is designed to be repeated as many times as desired, as each student continues to hone their skills through the individual assistance of our awesome instructors!

    with Seattle's Performers

    Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek.  One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he's handed a task – if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn't be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.  We will also be including full sets and costumes for this fantastical tale! You won't want to miss out!

    IMPORTANT NOTE: * This class is a two quarter commitment, which culminates in a full production on March 9th and 10th in the West Woodland Auditorium. Students will rehearse on Wednesdays each week during Fall and Winter enrichment quarters.  Families will need to re-enroll for Winter Quarter.

    with Seattle’s Performers

    In Ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse incurred by the Demigod Maui reaches an impetuous Cheftain's daughter's island, she answers the Ocean's call to seek out the Demigod to set things right. Moana will go on the journey with Maui to return the heart of the mother island Te Fiti. Along the way they meet the monster Tamatoa and Moana finds how to way find like her ancestors. Come sing and dance in the magical world of Disney's latest hit, Moana!

    Piano PlaygroundPiano Playground 

    The curriculum for this fun and interactive piano group class is a balance between note-reading, music terms and theory, healthy technique, ear training, ensemble playing, and creative composition. This class will emphasize note-reading literacy by having students read from the bass and treble clefs regularly as they learn fun and enjoyable pieces. In addition to learning notes on the grand staff, students will also learn songs by popular artists such as Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, and from movies such as Star Wars and Harry Potter. Students will have invigorating and varied lessons which will include music theory games, learning new pieces, and exploring their own musical ideas through expressive improvisation exercises. The class is intended for beginning students who have little to no experience playing piano.

    TGA tennisUltimate Frisbee
    with TGA 

    TGA Premier Sports is bringing ultimate frisbee to West Woodland! Our enrichment program combines athletics, academics and life lessons while emphasizing safety, fitness, and fun. Coaches lead students through station-based drills and games that develop the fundamental skills of the sport while using teachable moments to promote life lessons including perseverance and sportsmanship. Students also participate in STEAM labs that allow them to explore academic concepts through the game. TGA’s mission is to empower students with the tools to be successful within a team and in life. (TGA provides all necessary equipment.)

    Students are invited to learn a skill they will use for a lifetime and a hobby they will forever enjoy…sewing! No experience necessary for boys and girls to learn the basics and beyond. New students will learn machine safety and beginner sewing techniques, while the more experienced students can expand on skills they already have. The class will begin with a simple project, then students will advance at their own pace to more exciting and challenging projects throughout the session. This class is designed to teach children with both beginning and advanced skills.     Jump Rope for Fun and Fitness 
    with Ropeworks 

    Ropeworks is a highly acclaimed Jump Rope program designed by 5 Time World Rope Jumping Champion, Rene Bibaud. Ropeworks is a unique company with a special focus on youth motivation and fitness. Participants learn developmentally appropriate jump rope skills in a motivating and encouraging atmosphere. Personal, best effort, patience, practice and goal setting are the key character education pieces of our program that guide our teaching strategies and classroom management.  Participants of all skill levels will learn single rope skills, partner routines, long rope jumping, double dutch, choreography and more. We play loads of skill building games and activities and work to create a performance for friends and family.

    Parkour is the ability to move fluidly through your environment from one place to another. In this class, children will safely learn to progress through the basic parkour movements of: jumping, vaulting, climbing, swinging, balancing, and rolling.     Word Magic Creative WritingWord Magic Creative Writing 
    with iKhana Arts

    Inspire your child's communication and writing skills! Word Magic is a creative writing club where students explore comic strip creation, word games, free writing, poetry, haiku, guided writing activities, short stories, songwriting and sharing throughout each session. Using games and group and activities, students learn about literary devices (such as onomatopoeia, alliteration, personification, simile and metaphor, story construction, and more.) The session ends with a reading open to parents and friends.
