May is National Bike Month and Bike to School Month!
This is a month-long event designed to encourage people of all ages across the country to engage in active transportation through cycling. In addition to being an enjoyable activity, bicycling can lead to lifelong healthy habits.
Bike to School Month at West Woodland officially kicks off on Sunday, May 7th
with the West Woodland Bike Rodeo.
Come out for a day of biking fun including learning how to be safe at the bike skills stations, practicing in the bike obstacle course, bike checks & more! We need lots of volunteers in order to make the Bike Rodeo a success.
Note that this is a great opportunity for middle school and high school students looking for volunteer hours! We can validate their volunteer forms for supporting this fun activity.

We are once again partnering with BikeWorks, who will be on hand at the Bike Rodeo to provide bike mechanic support and to accept donations of used bikes – all sizes. If you have bikes in your garage that you no longer use, please consider a donation to BikeWorks! Go to https://bikeworks.org/
for more information.
National Bike to School Day is Wednesday, May 10th
. All kids riding to school on May 10th will receive a small prize from the Cascade Bicycle Club. Kids who ride will be welcomed with a celebration in front of the school beginning at 7:20 until school starts.
Kids will begin tracking their bike trips
to school and beyond starting on Monday, May 1st
. A tracking calendar will be provided. Kids will keep track of the minutes they spend riding throughout the month (not only to/from school) and turn in their calendars at the end of the month to be tallied for our school.
